Case Study: Hunterstown Power Project

This 890 MW combined cycle plant has a 350 MW steam turbine (down exhaust). Based in Hunterstown, Pennsylvania, the plant was placed into commercial operation in 2003.

GEA's ACC for this plant is comprised of 50 cells in a 10x5 configuration. The ACC was designed to meet the following criteria:

  • ultra low noise (based on size, it is one of the world's quietest units)
  • modular construction with enhanced structural design to maximize grade level construction activities
  • hybrid air removal system suing LRVPs for hogging and SJAEs for holding
  • large-diameter duct (23-foot)
  • cold weather/freeze protection with large-diameter sectionalizing valves
  • 7 ppb oxygen content level (deaeration required)
  • fin tube cleaning system
