Case Study: Millmerran Power Project

Located in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, this 840 MW coal-fired plant was placed into commercial operation in 2002. It features 2x420 MW steam turbines (down exhaust).

To meet cooling requirements, GEA recommended two ACC systems, comprised of 36 cells each. They are arranged in a 6x6 configuration.

The ACCs were supplied using modular construction with enhanced structural design to maximize grade level construction activities. The large 420 MW steam turbines required LP extraction lines to be routed through the main duct elbow. Steam-driven boiler feed pumps exhaust into the main duct elbows.
