Case Study: Saranac Energy Plant

This plant, located in Plattsburg, New York, utilizes an ACC comprised of 25 cells in a 5 x 5 configuration. In a study performed on performance vs. airside fouling, the impact on plant revenue easily justified implementation of a fin tube cleaning system, also by GEA.

The plant is a 240 MW combined cycle plant with an 80 MW steam turbine (axial exhaust). It was placed into commercial operation in 1994.

GEA's design met or exceeded the following criteria:

cold weather/freeze protection with up to 40% sectionalizing capability
fin tube cleaning system to improve performance
